In the U.S. most customers search by zip code and list their ads by zip code. As a buyer it's the easiest way to find products by distance from you and as a seller it gives your general location without giving away your full address. All of the major websites in the U.S. provide searches via zip codes and customers expect that now. If you look at cars.com, yelp.com, autotrader.com they all allow searches by zip code.
Right now, we are only able to search by State and County which is a big limitation. If I turn on the auto locate feature, it only allows me to search within my area and I am prevented from changing that and searching outside of that area (beyond 100 miles) it would be great if visitors can decide to turn that feature off on their own or simply not allow that feature to prevent them from searching outside of their local area.

Thanks for your suggestions!
Regarding the zip code, you can create a custom field called zip code and let sellers enter their zip code when they are posting an ad. If you make this field searchable, users will be able to search by zip code.
If you have enabled Auto Location, users can go to the search page, click on the button "X mi from you" and change the location of the marker.

Actually the best is not to use zip codes or locations is to use auto location, lot more accurate. ;)

|For the buyers yes....but what about the sellers? They are still having to input their state and county, not their zip code.|

|No, you can disable location completely and will use geolocation or the address they provide to locate the ad.|
