2 great news today!
Alipay payment gateway
Now you can charge your customers using Alipay!
Checkout now supports Alipay, China's #1 payment method. Alipay gives you instant access to a vast market. Once you enable Alipay, the checkout will automatically detect Chinese buyers, enabling them to pay on the web and mobile using instant SMS authentication.
This is thanks to our integration with Stripe. To use it you need to go to your site Panel -> Settings -> Payments -> Stripe activate Alipay.

Accepting Alipay in 2026: what has changed and what to check
Alipay is still a major way to reach buyers from China. Stripe's Alipay documentation describes it as a digital wallet with more than a billion active users, aimed at Chinese consumers, overseas Chinese and Chinese travelers. A lot has changed since this post was written, though, both at Stripe and in Yclas.
Where the option is in Yclas today
The "Accept Alipay payments" checkbox is now on the Stripe settings page of your admin panel, and it only appears when Legacy Checkout is ticked. Legacy Checkout uses Stripe's original pop-up checkout, which Stripe has replaced with its hosted Checkout pages (Stripe migration guide). That older pop-up created payments through Stripe's Sources API, which Stripe has deprecated and lists Alipay under as deprecated. If you switch Legacy Checkout off, Yclas uses the newer Stripe Checkout, which in Yclas offers card payments, plus iDEAL if you turn it on. If Alipay matters to your buyers, make a small real Alipay payment yourself before you promote it, and keep cards available as a fallback.
Alipay through Stripe at a glance
| Topic | What Stripe says (docs.stripe.com, 2026) |
|---|---|
| Who can accept it | Stripe accounts in 39 countries, including the US, Canada, the UK, most of the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia |
| Currencies | CNY from any country, plus your local currency (for example USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD). Buyers see the amount in CNY by default. |
| Chargebacks | None. The buyer authenticates every payment, so there is no dispute process. |
| Refunds | Full or partial, up to 90 days after the payment |
| Recurring payments | Private preview only, so not for subscriptions or memberships |
| Restrictions | Your business must not be on Stripe's restricted list or Alipay's prohibited list |
Fees depend on your country. As an example, Stripe's pricing page lists Alipay for a Stripe account in Canada at 2.9% + CA$0.30 per successful charge, plus 2% when a currency conversion is needed. Check the page for your own country before you set your prices.
Is Alipay worth it for your marketplace?
- Yes if you sell featured listings or memberships to Chinese-speaking communities, students or travelers. Many of them prefer a wallet to a card.
- Probably not if almost all your users are local. Every extra payment button adds a choice at checkout without adding buyers.
- Since Alipay has no chargebacks, a buyer with a problem will come to you. Have a clear refund policy on your site.
Vive le France
We have launched our site in French!
We had many requests to have our site and your site available in French, so for the past week, the French translation has been accessible in your panel. From today Yclas.com is also fully translated*.
"French is the official language in 29 countries, most of which are members of la francophonie, the community of French-speaking countries. It is spoken as a first language in France, southern Belgium, western Switzerland, Monaco, certain parts of Canada, and by various communities elsewhere. As of 2015, 40% of the francophone population (including L2 and partial speakers) is in Europe, 35% in sub-Saharan Africa, 15% in North Africa and the Middle East, 8% in the Americas, and 1% in Asia and Oceania." - Via wikipedia.
Currently, you can create your Classifieds site in English, Spanish, and French translated by native speakers and we will keep it updated ;)
We are working on new languages that will come soon!
