Hello Yclas Friends!
Since today you have had a new payment gateway available. SecurePay. This was thanks to a customer that sponsored the development of this gateway so all of you can enjoy it.
SecurePay is specialized in the Australian market.
SecurePay in 2026: new owner, the surcharge ban and today's setup
A lot has changed for SecurePay and for Australian card payments since we launched this gateway. If you run an Australian marketplace, or plan to, check these three things before you follow the steps below.
1. SecurePay now belongs to Fat Zebra
On 1 April 2025 Fat Zebra announced it had bought SecurePay from Australia Post, which had owned it since 2010. At the time, the announcement said more than 35,000 businesses used SecurePay, and that Fat Zebra handled over 250 million transactions a year for more than 38,000 merchants and platforms. As of October 2026, SecurePay's website says merchants will be moved to the Fat Zebra platform in the coming months. It also says existing merchants need to do nothing for now, that current integrations keep working as they are, and that some features may be retired gradually. The page gives no dates. Our integration sends buyers to SecurePay's hosted payment page, so card details never touch your site. If SecurePay or Fat Zebra contacts you about migrating, ask whether your new account still supports that hosted payment page. Then run a payment with test mode on before you rely on it.
2. No card surcharges from 1 October 2026
On 31 March 2026 the Reserve Bank of Australia published the conclusions of its review of card payment costs. The main changes are in the table below.
| Date | Change | What it means for a marketplace |
|---|---|---|
| 1 October 2026 | Surcharging is no longer allowed on debit, prepaid and credit cards on the eftpos, Mastercard and Visa networks. Lower domestic interchange fee caps apply. | Charge the advertised price for featured listings, memberships or ad fees and stop adding a card fee. NAB's merchant guide says the ban covers online payments as well as in-store ones, and American Express and UnionPay cards too. |
| 30 October 2026 | According to NAB, the major card schemes (Visa, Mastercard and eftpos) and large acquirers such as NAB start publishing their average merchant service fees every quarter. | Fees become easier to compare, so it is a good time to check what you pay per transaction. |
| 1 April 2027 | A cap on interchange for foreign-issued cards starts. | This matters if many of your buyers pay with overseas cards. |
In practice, put your card costs into your prices. If you used to show "+1.5% card fee" on a featured-ad upgrade, remove it from your pricing pages and any custom checkout text.
3. Where to find SecurePay in Yclas today
The menu has changed since this post was written. In your site panel go to Integrations → SecurePay, enter your SecurePay merchant ID and transaction password, and use the testing switch to try a payment in SecurePay's test environment before you go live. SecurePay is one of several payment options in Yclas. If you also sell to buyers outside Australia, the features page lists other gateways, such as Stripe and PayPal, that you can turn on alongside it.
The integration is really simple:
- Register at SecurePay
- Go to your site panel
- Settings->Payments->Securepay
- Then insert your merchant ID and your password.
- That's all!
Hope you enjoy it!
