Hello!
We haven’t added news for some weeks because of the Christmas period but that did not stop us from continuously improving things for you!
For this new year we are happy to introduce the following new things for your site:
- We now support Emojis!! Add some fun to your ads.
- Carquery API. Adding the brand and make of a car is now super easy! https://docs.yclas.com/vehicle-data/
- Bitcoin currency and wallet. Creating your Bitcoin marketplace is now very simple. Receive payments directly to the seller’s wallet https://docs.yclas.com/bitcoin-wallet-address/
- Zenith Payment Gateway, is perfect for Nigeria.
Where these features stand today: a 2026 checklist
This announcement dates from January 2018. All four features are still on Yclas, but how you use two of them has changed: the theme you pick and the third-party service behind each feature now matter. Here is where each one stands as of October 2026, based on the current Yclas help centre.
| Feature | Status in 2026 | Where to set it up | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Emojis | Supported: listing descriptions use the full utf8mb4 character set | Nothing to set up | Use them sparingly so your listings stay easy to read. |
| Vehicle data (CarQuery) | Available | Listings › Custom Fields › “Cars” template, or Integrations › CarQuery (guide) | The fields are created as required for all categories. Limit them to vehicle categories right away. |
| Seller Bitcoin address | Available, but only shown by some themes | Custom field named bitcoinaddress on listings, profiles or both (guide) | Only older themes such as Splash and Basecamp show the address and QR code. Nova, the default theme for new sites, and Mercury do not. |
| Crypto at checkout | Available through BitPay | Integrations › BitPay (guide) | Saving the pairing code is not enough. Contact Yclas support with your code to finish the pairing, and the BitPay option then appears. |
| Zenith GlobalPAY (Nigeria) | Available | Integrations › Zenith (guide) | Buyers need a phone number on their profile before they can check out. |
Bitcoin: wallet address or payment gateway?
The original idea was peer-to-peer: the seller publishes a wallet address and the buyer pays it directly. Your marketplace never touches the money, but it also cannot confirm that a payment arrived. If you run Nova, the address field will not appear on listings, so on a Nova site the practical route is BitPay at checkout. According to BitPay's pricing page (checked October 2026), it charges 2% + 25¢ per transaction below $500,000 a month in volume, 1.5% + 25¢ up to $1 million and 1% + 25¢ above that. It accepts Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dogecoin and stablecoins such as USDC, and merchants can be paid out in crypto, in one of several fiat currencies, or both. That suits sites that sell featured listings or memberships. A pure peer-to-peer crypto market still needs one of the older themes.
Vehicle data: free versus paid
CarQuery is a free service, and no one guarantees its uptime or how current its model list is. If your car marketplace depends on the make and model dropdowns, check after any change that they still load on the posting form. Also look at Auto-Data, the paid alternative in the same Integrations menu, which adds brand, model and generation fields.
Zenith GlobalPAY
You need a Zenith GlobalPAY merchant account from Zenith Bank before you can enable the gateway. Before you go live, switch on the gateway's testing mode and run a test payment, and make sure your buyers know they will be asked for a phone number at checkout.
You can enjoy them already on your site, no need to take any action ;)
