FB Share Link Problem

Forums Support FB Share Link Problem

I am having issues with the FB share and linking on FB back to the site.

FB is giving me this error:
"Something Went Wrong
Sorry, there was a problem with this link: http://mysite.com
You can now continue to this website, or go back to the page you were on before.
Remember, only follow links from sources you trust."

Also, FB is not showing the thumbnail of the ads on their end as well when posting to the FB timeline.

At first, I thought there was a problem with the app on FB that I created for SocialAuth that might be interfering with the share and link back to the site thus causing the error so I deleted that completely.  Then I tried it again when I had the share widget on the footer and I was still getting the same error. I went back to your demo site and tested from there and shared the link to my FB timeline and it worked like a charm with no errors at all.

Further test results; I logged out of admin and shared as a guest with the same error. Cleared the cache; same error. Tested on Firefox and IE; same error. I deleted the footer widget and went straight to AddThis to add to the widget to the site manually; same error.

Conclusion: I think there might be something within the files for my site where this error is coming from which I cannot see or fix.

Thank you for your time in looking into this matter.

Hello Mark,

I am going to try to help you. I say try because what happens on FB side theres not much I can do. Of course I can verify your site is loading properly and that is working.

So far:

I have tried to share this link:

on FB and it worked, uses the same software as yours 100% (everyone on yclas has same files different DB)

Also have tried with

And it worked good:

But without image. I will review it and see why is that ;)

I am also having this problem, it is almost like the site is not trusted?

Still having the same issues. This is a big issue for me since it would probably kill traffic from FB :(

I see it, quite strange.

Theres a tag that needs to be included in the HTML with the image you want FB to use:

og:image (mora about open graph here http://ogp.me/)

For example for http://crazy4campers.co.uk/for-sale/2008-mercedes-sprinter-conversion-5-berth.html

Its the first image http://i0.wp.com/cdn.yclas.com/1437/images/2015/01/16/5/thumb_2008-mercedes-sprinter-conversion-5-berth_1.jpg

And its properly done:
Actually FB has an Object Debugger for this, and takes the image correctly:

But it doesnt render it....as said from our side I have no idea what eslse to do guys, wish I was the owner of FB :P

I notified FB about the issue. I would be lucky to get a response. What about the issue with the site not being trusted? That is going to scare visitors away..

What do you mean site not being trusted?  where do you see that? I am opening your site and I do not get any of that message.

I can guarantee you its not from our side as far as I know and following their rules and even their tool says its fine... I have no need to lie, if we do something wrong I will say it and fix it, its in my best interest ;)

Oh come one eat me!!! hahaha now its working...I promise I have not changed anything at all! its 8am not even in the office yet!

Paste the url you want to share here https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object/ and click fetch new scrape, to force the reload.

So seems solved ;)

I am getting this error when I click on the ad from FB:

It worked for one item I posted after fetch new scrape:

Tried it with another item without fetch; no image on FB timeline
Chema about a year ago - 2015-02-13 08:28:23
oh, but that message I get it from many sites when I click a link. I think they have like an algorithm to see if the site was many times shared before or not.

As said its not in our end I can not do anything else :(

Sorry I refreshed and it posted my reply again. I see.. that is frustrating. I have other websites and this is the first time I have seen this problem. Back to the pictures not showing up on the timeline, would I have to fetch scrape on all new ads for the pic to show on FB?

Hello Mark,

No you do not need to do that. That was for the old ads, since the image was pointing to a non existing image path. That was our mistake, was fixed, but seems facebook caches this. But for new ads they are fine.
