Hey!
Some days ago we introduced "Upload files to ads via Dropbox", a great way for those who want to sell digital products, like eBooks, Music, Photos, Documents, etc, or for those who want to create a job board and allow people to upload CVs.
Recently we decided to create SellBox a new platform where you can buy/sell your files from Dropbox. But after some days, we realized that some people ask for another platform/resources to avoid Dropbox.
Then we decided to integrate Google Picker. It is Google Drive, but they call it Picker. So you can sell any file you have on your Drive.
Follow these steps to enable Google Picker on your platform

Besides Google Picker we added some other features and fix bugs we found:
- Missing subject field on contact form (Bug fixed)
- No header or footer for a single adoption (Improvement): you would like this if you sell only one product and want a landing page for your product.
- Yummo UX (improvements)
Selling files from Google Drive or Dropbox in 2026: setup and pitfalls
Both file pickers are still in Yclas today. In your admin panel, open Integrations and connect Google Picker (API key and client ID) or Dropbox (app key). Then add a custom field of type File Google Drive or File Dropbox to your listings. The steps below follow the current Yclas guide to selling digital goods.
How a paid download works
- Enable Buy Now with Stripe Connect, PayPal or eWallet so buyers can pay on the listing.
- Create a custom field named
file_downloadwith the type File Google Drive or File Dropbox. Use its values to limit the accepted file types, for example.pdf,.zip,.epub. - Under Settings › Payments, turn on Stock Control, so a listing can sell many copies instead of being marked as sold after the first sale.
- After paying, the buyer gets the download link in the purchase email. If an item has no price, or Buy Now is off, the Nova theme shows a free Download button on the listing instead.
Google Drive or Dropbox?
| Google Drive (Google Picker) | Dropbox (Chooser) | |
|---|---|---|
| What you set up | A Google Cloud project with the Google Picker API enabled, an API key and an OAuth web client ID (Google's guide) | A Dropbox app key |
| How long the link works | As long as the file stays shared | The Dropbox Chooser documentation says direct links expire after four hours |
| Best for | Products you sell again and again: eBooks, templates, music, photo packs | Files used soon after upload, such as CVs on a job board |
Because of that expiry, the Yclas guide suggests switching to Google Drive if buyers report broken Dropbox links. For anything you plan to sell for weeks or months, start with Google Drive.
Three things that cause most problems
- Restrict your API key. Google advises limiting the key to your own website. Because the Picker runs inside an iframe served from Google, the allowed websites must also include
https://docs.google.com/*, or the Picker shows an "API developer key is invalid" error. Add your marketplace's address under Authorized JavaScript origins in the OAuth client. - Share the file. The file must be shared, or buyers will see an access request instead of a download. In Drive, click Share, then under General access choose "Anyone with the link" with the Viewer role.
- A link can be passed on. Anyone who has the link can forward it. This setup suits low-price, high-volume files. It does not suit files that must stay confidential: keep those behind a membership plan, or send them yourself after checking the order.
Since we are reaching the end of 2016 we are still working to start New Year 2017 with the best solution to create your marketplace and classifieds site!! Enjoy!
