How to choose a WordPress classifieds plugin
- Payments: check which gateways the free version has. Stripe is in Classified Listing Pro and in the WPAdverts Professional package; HivePress takes payments through WooCommerce with its $39 Memberships extension. [4]

What is the best free WordPress classifieds plugin?
Classified Listing, HivePress and WPAdverts all have free versions on WordPress.org. HivePress gives the most for free (messages, reviews and maps); Classified Listing has free featured ads and pay per ad; WPAdverts is the lightest. All need WordPress hosting you pay for.
Is a classifieds theme or a plugin better?
A plugin such as Classified Listing or HivePress works with many themes, so you can change the design later. A theme such as AdForest or ClassiPress gives a finished classifieds design but ties the listings to that theme.
Is ClassiPress still updated?
It is still sold. Its newest release is 4.2.8, from 5 June 2024, and AppThemes' release plans page lists the next version without a date.
Can I move from a WordPress plugin to Yclas later?
