A Shopify alternative for multi-vendor marketplaces.
Shopify is excellent for selling your own products. A marketplace, where other sellers list and get paid, is a different job: Shopify's own terms say it is not a marketplace, and a multi-vendor app has to be added on top. This page is for owners at that point. If you sell only your own products, Shopify is the better fit, and this page isn't for you.

Year one means what a working site costs in its first year, from each product's own prices. Hosting for self-hosted software depends on the host you choose, so it is left out.

Moving products from Shopify
Shopify exports products as a CSV file, and Yclas imports CSV.
- In Shopify, export your products (and your vendors' products) as a CSV file.
- Start a free trial and open Move your site to Yclas, then choose CSV.
- Match the columns, check the dry run (a preview with any errors, nothing is saved yet), then import.
Products become listings with their categories, prices and photos from their web addresses. Sellers create their accounts and connect their own Stripe account, or you pay them their balance by PayPal or bank transfer. You can undo the latest import within 7 days.
When to stay with Shopify
- You sell only your own products: Shopify is built for exactly that.
- You work with other Shopify brands: Shopify Collective lets Shopify stores sell each other's products.
- Your store depends on Shopify apps, its point of sale or its sales channels.
- You only add a few outside sellers to a store that is mostly yours.
Questions people ask
Other alternatives:
Can Shopify be a multi-vendor marketplace?
Only with an app. Shopify's terms say its services are not a marketplace and that you are the merchant of record for every sale; multi-vendor apps add sellers, commission and payouts on top, from $15 to $399 a month.
What does a Shopify marketplace cost?
With Shopify Basic billed yearly ($29 a month), the Webkul app's unlimited-seller plan ($60 a month) and its Stripe Connect payouts ($10 a month), about $1,188 a year, before Shopify's fee on sales through other payment providers.
What is Shopify Collective?
A way for Shopify stores to sell each other's products. Both stores need Shopify Payments and the same country and currency, so it doesn't open your store to sellers who aren't on Shopify.
How are sellers paid on Yclas?
Through Stripe Connect, with each sale split at checkout and held until delivery if you want, or buyers pay you and each seller withdraws their balance, less your commission, by PayPal or bank transfer.
