An Etsy clone for makers in one craft or region.
An Etsy clone is a marketplace where independent makers open a shop, list handmade items with sizes and colours, and ship to buyers who pay on your site. Yclas has the shops, the cart for several sellers, shipping prices and your commission on every sale, on the Marketplace plan.

Etsy gave every maker a shop of their own.
Etsy started in 2005 for handmade goods, vintage items and craft supplies. It stood out from general marketplaces because each seller had a shop with a name and a story, and buyers came looking for something no factory makes.
The handmade marketplace software parts to switch on first.
Each part is off until you switch it on, so turn on only what your first makers need. Most start with shops, options, shipping and a single commission rate, and add coupons, bundles and sale prices once there are regular buyers.
| Part | Launch with it | Add it later |
|---|---|---|
| Shops | Storefront with logo, banner, about and policies | Store teams for makers with staff |
| Items | Options with their own price and stock | Bundles, quantity discounts |
| Shipping | First item, each extra item, free over an amount | Prices for up to 60 countries |
| Money | One commission rate for everyone | Rates by category or maker, a buyer service fee |
| Promotions | None | Sale prices, makers' coupons, cart reminders |
| Digital items | None | Patterns and printables as digital downloads, from Professional |
An Etsy clone wins by curating.
A general handmade site has millions of items and a search box. A focused one can promise something: only ceramics, only makers from one island, only knitting patterns, only vintage furniture restored by hand, only goods made by members of a guild. Buyers trust a curator, and makers like being found among peers instead of next to mass-produced copies.
Approve every shop before it opens, keep the category list short, and write a buying guide for each craft. That is the work a giant cannot do.

Every maker gets a storefront.
A shop page with the maker's banner, logo and tagline, rating, policies and all their items, with its own search. Buyers follow shops and get one email a day with new items. A Stores page lists every shop, and a maker going away can pause sales with a message and a return date.

Shown with a bike shop on our Hometown Market demo; a maker's shop has the same parts.
One cart for many makers, and your cut of every sale.
Buyers add items from several shops and pay once by card. Each maker's items are grouped with their own shipping, each maker is paid their part through Stripe Connect, and your commission stays with you: a percentage, a fixed fee or both, with other rates for some categories or makers.
- Paid at once or on delivery: makers are paid straight away or when the buyer confirms delivery.
- A sales dashboard for every maker: orders, refunds, payouts and your commission.

Shipping that adds up, and offers that sell more.
Makers set a price for the first item and each extra one, free shipping over an amount, and prices by country. They mark orders as shipped with a tracking number. Sale prices with an end date, bundles and their own coupons help them sell more.

Is it legal to build an Etsy clone?
Yes. A handmade marketplace is a normal business. Do not use the Etsy name, logo or design, and do not copy shops, photos or listings from Etsy. Invite makers to bring their own.
Which plan does a website like Etsy need?
Marketplace, at $149 a month: the cart, storefronts, shipping profiles and your commission are on it. Each part is switched on by you, with the Nova theme.
How do makers get paid?
Through Stripe Connect. Each maker sets up a Stripe payout account from their account on your site, and their part of each sale goes to it, minus your commission.
Can items have sizes and colours?
Yes. Up to 30 options per item, each with its own price, stock and code, chosen before adding to the cart.
Can makers sell digital patterns?
Yes, as digital downloads, from Professional. The buyer gets the file after paying.
Can I charge a listing fee as well?
Yes. Set a posting price on chosen categories, on top of or instead of a commission.
Does Yclas take a cut?
No. You pay the plan price; Stripe charges its own payment fees.
