Who it is for

A classifieds platform for publishers of any size.

Classified revenue moved online years ago. A paper's name, its readers and its local trust are still worth more than a national portal's reach in one town.

Local weekliesMove the back pages online and let readers book ads at midnight.
Regional dailiesSeveral towns as locations, with motors and property sections.
Free sheets and magazinesA self-serve ad site that pays for the print run.
Community radio and news sitesClassifieds and notices next to your news.

Sections and fields Every plan

Your sections, with the details readers search.

Recreate the paper's classified sections as categories, each with its own fields: make, year and mileage for motors, bedrooms for homes, a date and venue for notices and events. Readers filter on them; search engines read them.

  • Ready-made vehicle and property packs, switched on in Settings.
  • Events with a venue, end date and repeats, on a calendar page.
  • Expiry per listing, so old ads leave by themselves.

Questions

Newspaper classifieds software FAQ

Part of:

What is newspaper classifieds software?

Software that runs a paper's classified ads online: readers choose a section, write their ad, pay and publish it themselves, and the paper moderates, prices and earns from it.

Does the newspaper classifieds software handle print ads?

No. Yclas runs the online classifieds only. It has no print workflow: no ad sizes, insertion dates, page make-up or export to a print system.

Can it run on our own domain?

Yes. Use a subdomain such as classifieds.yourpaper.com or a separate domain. SSL is included and paid plans show no Yclas branding.

Can our staff place ads for callers?

Yes. Staff can log in as a reader to place or fix an ad, and on Professional you can give the ad desk moderator or editor roles.

Can we charge different prices per section?

Yes. Each category has its own price to post, and on Professional business accounts can pay a second price.

Can we sell display ads?

Yes. Banner zones in the header, between listings and on listing pages, booked by the week and approved by you. Advertisers see views and clicks.

Does Yclas take a share of our ad revenue?

No. You pay the plan price; payments go to your own Stripe, PayPal or other provider.

Can we import our current ads?

Yes. Import listings from a spreadsheet, or ask us to move you from another script.
