Hi friends,
Today, we are going to talk about the most popular classified sites in Ireland.
As the second-largest island of the British Isles and the third-largest in Europe, Ireland’s financial fortunes are largely dependent on international trade and influenced by global markets. According to the country’s Central Statistics Office, the gross domestic product ( GDP ) grew up by 8.2% in 2018.
Here is a list of the most popular classified sites in Ireland.
Adverts.ie
Adverts.ie is an Irish marketplace where you can buy and sell just about anything. This is Ireland’s largest community website. Adverts.ie has over 1,000,000 registered users placing over 200,000 ads every month. The website gets about 1.2 million visits monthly.
Vivastreet.ie
Vivastreet.ie is a global marketplace. On this site, you can find different items, for instance, office equipment, kitchen appliances, home furniture, vehicles, different services, classes, properties, even pets.

Ireland's classifieds market in 2026: who owns what, and the rules sellers now face
Most people don't realise that four of the best-known names on this list belong to one company. Distilled runs DoneDeal, Adverts.ie, Daft.ie and Gumtree.ie. In 2024 Distilled's revenue rose 14% to €47 million. DoneDeal had 6.4 million monthly visitors, and Adverts.ie had 2 million monthly users posting more than 200,000 new listings a month (RTÉ, 11 August 2025). Those figures are far higher than the visit numbers quoted elsewhere in this article.
| Site | Best for | Latest figure |
|---|---|---|
| DoneDeal.ie | Cars, farming, machinery | 6.4m monthly visitors (2024) |
| Adverts.ie | General second-hand goods | 2m monthly users, 200,000+ new listings a month (2024) |
| Daft.ie | Property to rent or buy | Part of the same group |
| Gumtree.ie | General classifieds | Part of the same group |
Ownership keeps changing. In November 2024 Adevinta sold its 50% stake in Distilled to Blacksheep Fund Management for €312 million, which valued the group at €624 million (RTÉ). At the end of September 2026, Australia's REA Group agreed to buy 35% of Distilled for €248 million, valuing it at about €708.6 million (RTÉ). In practice, one group sets the rules, fees and safety tools for most of the Irish market. If one of its sites suspends your account or changes its pricing, your main alternatives are Facebook Marketplace and international networks such as Locanto.
Selling a lot? Revenue may get your details
Under the EU DAC7 rules, platforms must report sellers to Revenue unless they are below both limits: fewer than 30 sales and less than €2,000 in a reporting year (Revenue.ie). If you have a big clear-out or resell as a side hustle, you can pass either limit quickly, so keep simple records of what you sold and what you paid for it.
The scam to watch for
Gardaí have warned sellers on DoneDeal and similar sites about a fake An Post link that claims the buyer has already paid. The link takes you to a page that asks for your bank card details (Garda warning reported by Yay Cork, November 2021). Variations of this trick still circulate. You never need to enter card details to receive money. Treat any "payment confirmed, click to collect" message as a scam, and finish the deal in person or through the platform's own messaging.
Rackons.com
Racokns.com is one of the used classifieds websites in Ireland. On this general classified website, you can post free advertisements related to business, real estate, vehicles, jobs, and services. You can find almost anything there. This website has 9 categories and around 220 sub-categories including Electronics, Jobs, Vehicles, Entertainment, etc.
Donedeal.ie
With about 50,000 daily visits, Donedeal.ie can offer you a variety of clothes, toys, instruments, kitchen appliances, books, vehicles, boats, etc.
